Description
The cast bronze relief plaque depicts Virgin Mary holding the Child with glory above their heads. Madonna & Child are slim figures, very modernist portrayal. The commemorative relief sculpture was produced for the pastoral visit of Catholic Pope John Paul II to Austria in 1988. in the bottom left corner the initials can be found 'E.H.' for Erwin Huber. On the backside the following text is engraved: "Papst Johannes Paulus II in Österreich Ja zum glauben ja zum leben" "Pope John Paul II in Austria Yes for faith yes for life." There is a small hole for hanging on the backside. The brass relief has a nice patina, shades of its color range from shiny gold to matte brown bronze.
