Description

Here is one of the "few" Cornflower cuts on the New Martinsville "Star" or #4400 Serving Bowl blank that was made during the World War II years! At that time, it became difficult for Hughes Cornflower Glass Co of Canada to import the blanks they used to cut the Cornflower pattern. (Hughes did not manufacture their own glass, but imported, mostly from US, but also from Europe.) Blank #4200 from New Martinsville was used for the Cornflower Serving Bowl. But every so often, a #4400 was found in a shipment! Hughes was delighted to find an unexpected bonus during these difficult years & happily cut the Cornflower on the Star Blanks as well. None were cut after 1944! This bowl is in really great condition & has utensil scratches commensurate with it's age. Filled with Fruit or seasonal decor, they won't be noticed by the people who are important to you! Please examine the pictures as they are a huge part of the description! & don't forget to review our shipping policy prior to purchasing. Questions are welcome! Thanks for visiting & shopping our elegant crystal! We are so pleased to have rescued it for your use & enjoyment! https://bucketlistgarnishes.etsy.com W J Hughes Cornflower 12 Inch Serving Bowl
