Enrique Ledesma Taco Mexican 1950's sterling modernist screwback earrings . Set is signed Ledesma. Enrique Ledesma studied at the San Carlos Academy of Arts in Mexico City. As a young boy, he served as an apprentice in his father's silver workshop. While a student in art school, Ledesma worked in a large silver shop, moved to Taxco & joined Las Delicias. He worked for Spratling until around 1945 & Los Castillo until 1950 when he established his own shop. in a 1956 travel guide, he was recommended as one of the best silver shops in Taxco. in his designs, Enrique chose stones for their beauty, but did not place them in silver settings. Instead he created compositions in which stones & silver were used to express form, color, pattern & line. Silver & stone merge on the same plane.
