The Icon is hand made,in the old traditional manner of Byzantine art.It has been painted with egg,tempera,and gold on canvas & old wood.It is a work of modern art of superior quality. About this Icon: The Holy Gospel bearing his name & the Acts of the Apostles are two priceless gifts that the Apostle Luke gave to humanity. He was the first iconographer, as well. His holy images include the Theotokos at the Monastery of Mega Spilaio (the Great Cave) in the Peloponnese, the Theotokos of the Monastery of Sumela (Panagia Soumela) in Kastania in Veroia, & the Theotokos of Mount Kykkos in Cyprus. Some of his holy images have persisted until now. He shared the gospel all throughout Greece. in Thebes, where his tomb may be discovered, his life eventually came to an end. The Greek city of Lamia is guarded by Saint Luke, & his memory is celebrated on October 18.
