According to myth, an owl sat on Athena's blind side so that she could see the whole truth. in Ancient Greece, the owl was a symbol of higher wisdom & was also a guardian of the Acropolis. Nike, the Greek goddess of speed, strength, & victory, was also known as the Winged Goddess. She was often depicted with wings & was the child of Pallas (Titan) & Styx. in most beliefs, Styx is the name of the river that separates Planet Earth from the Gates of Hell (Hades). Nike's name means Victory, & the Roman equivalent of Nike was Victoria. As the Greek goddess of Victory, Nike was closely associated with athletics, other contests, & warfare.
