This is a amazing folk art piece out of China circa midcentury or so. It is reportedly hand carved from boxwood & this one has a darker wood base. He has glass eyes & is such a beautiful piece. It is in very good vintage condition. It is representative of the horses of Emperor Wang Mu, 10th century, & the 5th emperor of the Zhou dynasty. It represents the respect of the emperor for these wonderful horses from the Chinese people. This is 5 7/8" tall, 4.75" x 1.25" across the base & is about 5" wide.
