The term Matrix Opal is commonly used where the Opal is intimately diffused as in fillings of pores or holes between grains of the host rock in which it was formed. Boulder Matrix Opal is found in Queensland & can be distinguished by the ironstone host rock. Size of this totally natural freeform Boulder Opal is 1,7 cm in length, 0,9 cm in width (middle) & 0,3 cm in thickness, & it has light blue/gray veins of Opal running through the ironstone which display different colours depending on the source of light. This lovely natural Boulder Opal has been set in a custom hand forged 4 prong setting of very high quality 14k gold filled material. Total length of the pendant including the bail ring is 2,5 cm.
