Description

This listing is for one 1943 Mercury Dime, as pictured. Choose by grade. D mint mark, denoting the Denver Mint. Designed by Adolph Weinman & also referred to as the Winged Liberty Head dime, it gained its common name because the obverse depiction of a young Liberty, identifiable by her winged Phrygian cap, was confused with the Roman god Mercury. Weinman is believed to have used Elsie Stevens, the wife of lawyer & poet Wallace Stevens, as a model. The coin's reverse depicts a fasces, symbolizing unity & strength, & an olive branch, signifying peace. The dime's design was changed in 1946 to feature President Roosevelt on the obverse of the coin who had recently deceased. 1943-D Mercury Dime - AU (About Uncirculated) - Denver Mint - 1943 D Liberty Head Dime - 1943 D Winged Liberty Silver Dime 1943-D Mercury Dime - Choose By Grade Denver Mint 1943 D Liberty Head Winged Silver
