These type of belt buckles were faked in the 1970's, not reproduced but actually faked & passed off as real antiques. This example is marked by E. Gaylord a famous maker from the 19th century. They do have value even as fakes because they are fairly scarce. Make no mistake though & pay too much. Can accept a leather belt up to 1 3/4".
