Geta (下駄) are traditional Japanese footwear resembling flip-flops. A kind of sandal, geta have an elevated wooden base held on the foot with a fabric thong, which keeps the foot raised above the ground. Vintage Made of wood Red lacquer sole with abstract floral pattern on the heel Black lacquer sidewall Textured bottom The fabric thongs are in the traditional kanoko pattern. This repetitive pattern has the Japanese name Kanoko because it resembles the spots found on the back of a fawn. It is the result of a particular dyeing technique which consists in knotting the fabric in a specific way before soaking it.
