Description

This vintage bridge set, circa 1980s, includes everything you need for a fun evening of cards, right down to the drink coasters! It was produced as a promotional item for Teamsters Local 507 in Cleveland, Ohio. The case is a faux leather branded as Skai-Hide, "the luxury vinyl of our time," according to the small pamphlet included in the case. Industrial scenes & the Teamsters logo are printed in gold on the front. The top closes with a snap. Inside are two decks of cards, still in their cellophane wrappers, a goldtone mechanical pencil, four cork drink coasters, a bridge scorepad, & a small notepad. The cards & coasters are held in place by fabric straps with eagles & stars woven in gold & black. The set is in very good, unused condition & comes in its original gift box. The notepad & scorepad are discolored from age, & the pencil should have a top, but it's missing. The pencil can still be used, however. The case measures about 8.5 inches wide & 3.5 inches tall when closed. Not-so-fun fact: Harold Friedman, whose name is printed on the front cover of the wallet as the president of Local 507, served in that capacity until the 1980s, when he was convicted of racketeering & embezzlement & died in the 1990s. Jackie Presser, Secretary-Treasurer, likewise had a colorful career & died in 1988 while under indictment for Federal charges.
