Description
Gold Tooth has nothing on this walrus's gold (painted) tusks! (plus the walrus is much more lovable). This adorable walrus was carved from copal wood by Gil Santiago & nicely painted with Zapotec patterns by his wife, Guadalupe, on the outskirts of Oaxaca, Mexico. Approx. 5.5" front to back flippers, x 6" wide x 4" high. Signed on the bottom. Ships from the United States w/in 1 business day of receiving the order. Oaxacan woodcarvings are also called alebrijes (pronounced all-ay-bree-hays) - they are carved in small family workshops on the outskirts of the city of Oaxaca. They're often bright & whimsical, & can be very collectible.
