MacGregor Jr, who is known in the New England area as the Junkyard Artist. - Borden Flats Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse on the Taunton River in Fall River, MA. It is a tower-on-caisson type known as sparkplug lighthouse. Borden Flats Lighthouse was built in 1881, & is a 50 foot cast-iron tower that included a keeper's quarters. The light has a fourth-order Fresel lens producing a fixed red light 47-foot above mean high water. The lighthouse was battered during the 1938 Hurricane which left the lighthouse with a pronounced tilt, which it still has. A new wider caisson was later added around the original one for additional protection. in 1957, the lighthouse was electrified. It was automated in 1963. in 1977, its Fresnel lens was removed & replaced with a modern Vega lens & the fog horn. The fog bell it was replaced by an electronic foghorn in 1983. Today Bordon Flats Light is privately owned & offered to the public for overnight stays. MacGregor, Jr. was born in Medfield, MA, the son & grandson of Norfolk Hunt Club kennel masters. Many of his family members were self taught artists, woodcarvers, automobile mechanics & veterans of foreign wars including his father a WW1 US Army veteran. Bill is a graduate of Medfield High School, Wentworth Institute, & Northeastern University. His engineering career, from which he is now retired, included working for military & aerospace companies in industrial engineering & IR optics. His painting incorporates "old skool" mechanical & civil drafting tools & he uses a mixed medium of watercolors, acrylics & inks. Two rabbits are often in quite a few of his paintings. Look for them. He is frequently commissioned by United States Naval officers to create paintings of their ships & aircraft carriers on nautical charts.
