Gorgeous designer earrings by Sajen. This is a pair of vintage sterling silver earrings. They are set with moonstones, labradorite & Iolite stones. The stones are all cabochons & bezel set. They are done in round, marquise & teardrop shapes for interest. The earrings are accented with dotted & curled sterling. They have push back earring posts. Pretty pieces for your ears! Please note that the photos do not do these stones justice! I had a hard time getting these to photo This piece was designed by Marianna & Richard Jacobs for their Sajen line. Other names for this stone are water opal, fish-eye & wolf's-eye. Moonstone was once before extremely popular during the times of Art Nouveau about 100 years ago. Moonstone is the opalescent variety of Orthoclase, which is an alkai feldspar, with a blue or white sheen, referred to as a "schiller", rather like the shine of the moon. This is created by the reflection of light from the internal structure of thin albite layers giving off the blue color & thicker layers feldspar producing the white shade. Healing Properties: Since it is a stone of love & fertility, in history it was often used for a token of eternal love or for a wedding gift. Some people believe that the moonstone is linked to the moon itself, focusing on love, fertility, good fortune & protection during dark times.
