Up for sale is a lovely & rare screen print by New York artist William J. Sewell titled "Lonely Island". Depicting a group of three seagulls flying over the coastal waters a large rocky plateau in the distance. Titled in low left corner & signed "W.J. Sewell" low right the work is dated 1945 & shows lovely original color. The condition appears very nice overall making it very strange to see a 2.5 inch tear just left of the signature. The tear is so fine that I did not even see it prior to a close examination. Resting in a white wood frame measuring 19.75 x 24.25 inches the print measures 13 x 17.5 inches. The frame also shows some knicks but is attractive & looks great on the wall.
