Rare vintage 813 silver 4 7/8" demitasse souvenir spoon for Åland, Finand. Very collectible as it was made in 1955 by Auran Kultaseppa Oy, the second oldest silver factory in Finland, in the city of Turku. The perfect gift for the Kultaseppa Oy collector. Would make a fantastic gift for anyone who has an affinity for Finnish or Scandinavian objects. Excellent gift for someone who collects objects relating to reindeer also. The lines of this spoon are very clean & have a modern feel even though the spoon is 70 years old. Finial features a gorgeous blue enamel & silver badge of the Finnish forest reindeer. It is a rare subspecies of the reindeer native to Finland & northwestern Russia. in Finland, they are found mostly in Kainuu, though some wander into central south Finland. Above the enamel badge is a very impressively detailed crown with tiny red & blue jewels in it. Remarkable to look at up close. The rear of the top of the handle is engraved 'Åland 1956', & the spoon is fully marked with the Auran Kultaseppa Oy eagle's head maker's mark, the Finnish 'Heart & Crown' assay mark, the 813H mark for 81.3% silver content, the Turku city mark, & the date code 'B7' to indicate this piece was made in the year 1955. Åland is an autonomous & demilitarised region of Finland since 1920 by a decision of the League of Nations. It is the smallest region of Finland by area & population. Its only official language is Swedish & the capital city is Mariehamn. It is situated in an archipelago, called the Åland Islands, at the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea belonging to Finland. in very good vintage condition with just light surface scratches, as seen in the photos.
