Fantastic Original Zoo-Line Matchbox Monkey with Rope Arms by J.V Orel c1958. in the 1950's, Zoo-Line was an LA based company that sold wooden animals that were made in Japan. These figurines were often sold at Zoo's, Parks & other Souvenir Shops. There were a wide range of animals from small figurines to larger animals that doubled as trinket boxes, jewelry holders, sewing kits, etc. This was one of the more popular pieces. This is the larger one in this line, I believe it to be the largest. With the tail & arms extended he's 12"L, his body is 5.5"L. The arms, legs & tail are made of rope & can be molded to hang on or however you'd like them to be arranged. He is in fantastic, vintage condition. No dings, dents or damage to the wood & no major fraying to the rope. He has been very well taken care of over the years. You can barely read the inscription on the side reading, 'c1958 zoo line' An amazing piece to gift to a collector or to add to a current collection! - Thank you for taking the time to look.
