This sweet little coin purse is a fairly rare piece from the early 1900's. This piece features a silver plated metal frame with a raised portrait of a Victorian lady with large flower petals for hair. There is a raised beaded border surrounding the portrait. The hinge & closure on the frame both work well. The purse portion of this piece is constructed of crocheted heavy tan colored string embellished with steel cut beads. This is done in a star pattern. The bag is in good conditionI did not note any holes, tears, or missing beads. The purse is around 2 1/2 inches in diameter & around 2 inches deep. Free shipping in USA. The Tam O' Shanter coin purse was a novelty of the early 1900's. It had a rounded & beaded bottom section which was attached to a round metal purse top. Often the beadwork was knit into a star or spiral pattern. The top might have been sterling but was typically nickel silver over brass with repousse or embossed designs of coins, portraits & Art Nouveau florals. Magazines offered instructions for making these purses at home. I try my very best to only list items that are in great condition. But, it's important to remember that most vintage items have been used, so they are rarely perfect. I always try to disclose any flaws that I see.
