Depicting Paddington train station at midnight, London this artwork follows on from my ''Lonely Train Stations'' series of paintings & prints begun in 2020. The scene unfolds in a surreal & emotive manner inviting viewers to reflect on the profound loneliness that can accompany city life, especially in the silent hours when the world sleeps. The station is rendered with a combination of sharp, angular lines & soft, blurred edges. The architectural elements are depicted with heavy, impasto brushstrokes, creating a sense of solidity & permanence that contrasts with the fleeting nature of the human experience within the space. The platforms & tracks are textured with a mix of coarse, granulated strokes, symbolising the gritty reality of urban life. A fine art Giclee print made after my Midnight London Paddington station (2021) painting (P3). Faithfully reproduced in high-resolution, museum quality Giclée & carefully crafted on heavy 310gsm acid-free card stock with a matte beautifully textured finish. Printed on an alpa-cellulose etching paper with a natural white finish & lightly structured, soft-textured surface, to beautifully present the subtle shifts in density of colour & texture as manipulated in the original painted version.
