Original 1908 Basketball team photograph. Photo is 8" x 6" & mounted on original 10" x 12" heavy picture mount board. Written on the back in pencil is "Independent Basket Ball Bridgton Academy 1908-1909" along with the names of the nine people (6 players & 3 coaches / administrators) in the photo. Bridgton Academy is in Bridgton, Maine & is currently a college prep school but was originally a 4-year school. It was founded in 1808 when Maine was still a part of Massachusetts. Basketball was invented in Massachusetts in 1891, only 17 years before this team photograph! Excellent antique condition. You will receive the exact piece shown in the photos.
