The vibrant orange, black & white Baltimore Orioles (aka Northern Oriole) are in a field of Blackeyed Susans. The egg is permanently mounted on a black wood stand with a black round support for the egg. My egg creations make unique gifts for the one who has everything, or for you! I've painted ostrich eggs for 30+ years. My artwork is original, freehand designs using acrylic paints - no decoupage or stickers. Glazing, blending & a focus on detail adds depth to produce realistic representations. Completed artwork is protected with three coats of polyurethane varnish to give a glass-like shine & durable finish. To clean, use a soft, slightly damp cloth, as needed. Ostrich eggshells are the largest & thickest shell in the world & averages about 15"" in diameter, 6" high & 1/16" thick. One ostrich egg is equal to approximately 24 chicken eggs & can withstand the weight of a 300-pound bird sitting on them. But don't worry.... no baby ostriches are hurt for my eggs.
