But within a visit, those two things are somewhat separate. I do not usually like to have people around me when I am being serious about my photography. & on the flip side, I do not like to take a lot of time photographing when I am trying to be present with others. This was a "be present" occasion, so I was mindful of just being in the moment with my daughter. We were hiking & enjoying our time together, so I was not primarily concentrating on photography. Also, it had been very overcast that day, & I was not expecting any of the beautiful afternoon light that makes images so magical. But then, suddenly, there it was! The setting sun broke through the clouds & illuminated the scene just long enough for me to capture a few amazing shots. & since I don't hike without having my camera handy, I was ready.
