I was pretty shocked when I flipped this painting over for the first time because it has such an incredibly strong vintage feelbut it was actually painted very recently! I just love its attention to detail, retro style, bold lines, vintage color scheme, & slightly uncanny feel due to its high amount of detail. The painting looks like acrylic paint (possibly with some gouache and/or oil paint) with a metallic sheen to some silver & gold paint colors & a glossy varnish on a canvas panel that's been trimmed down to about 15 3/4" by 11 1/4". The painting is in decent condition overall but it does have an unexpected amount of wear close up which made me think it was vintage at first: errant streaks & speckles & blobs of paint, lower levels of paint (in texture & color) that can be seen through the upper levels, superficial scratches that have removed tiny paint chips, dark gray speckles & scratches of discoloration from friction (including a larger scratch on the left half of the sky), additional wear & chipping along the outer edges that can't be seen with the frame in place, tiny popped air bubbles trapped in some of the varnish, tiny paint chips missing throughout, smudges made in the wet paint (seemingly mostly on purpose to create texture & depth), tiny pinprick-sized popped air bubbles trapped in some of the thicker areas of paint or caught between the warp & weft of the canvas, little whitish speckles of discoloration from friction throughout, & tiny dust fibers & little bits of dried paint caught up in the surface. The finish is mostly glossy. The back of the painting shows it's on an Italian 40cm by 30 cm panel that's been trimmed down & has the title [titolo] "PIAZZA DELLA MERCANZIA" & date of September 27 2019 & the artist's name listed as "Victor." The wood frame has a heavy plaster-like molded veneer & is covered in a matte grayish brown paint (with purple or blue undertones depending on the light) overall with a thinned glossy brownish orangish red pigment or paint on the raised details & what looks like a faint metallic gold paint on the lip edges with spots of a glossy thinned orangey yellow paint throughout. Consequently, that makes the frame's color rather difficult to pin down, but it will register as a tarnished silver in most lights. It's in decent condition overall but it reads more as "shabby chic" overall due to its many little small scratches & dents (some of which reveal the white of the veneer below), extra chipping & wear at the outer corners (some of which reveal the whitish veneer & the bare wood below that), corners that don't meet perfectly flush which leaves little strips of veneer exposed (but the frame is still sturdy overall), tiny chips missing from the elaborate raised design of the veneer, brushstroke irregularities in the paint, dark gray scratches of discoloration (especially along the outer edges), larger pieces of veneer missing from the outer edges, whitish paint scrape transfers along the outer edges where
