Description

Wow! This is an amazingly beautiful & luxurious 1930's - 40's men's dressing robe, complete with belt & ascot! A wonderful gift ready to wear! This is old school cool Cary Grant style! Photos don't do justice. Truly amazing condition for 80-ish years old. It is made by Raphael Weill exclusively for the White House. The last photo is a photo of the old White House in San Francisco at around the time the robe would've been in the store for sale! The fabric is a luxurious pre WW2 rayon that feels like silk. It drapes so nicely & just feels so good against the skin. I believe this was never worn because it is in such pristine new condition. I have owned since the 1990's & stored in cedar chest. It has been professionally cleaned & is ready for gift giving! This impeccable dressing robe measures: 18" across the back shoulder seam. 48" top to bottom. 24" sleeves. Belt features a button to secure to the robe at one of the belt loops. The belt is a generous 78" long by 2 1/4 wide. Ascot measures 54" long by 9" wide. Raphael Weill was a pioneer San Francisco merchant who emigrated from France & arrived in San Francisco in 1855. Within three years, he had become a partner of the J. W. Davidson Dry Goods Store. By 1885, the Davidson Dry Goods Store became Raphael Weill & Company, & the store became known as the White House. Widely known for its fine merchandise & excellent employer-employee relations, the White House moved three times before it closed in 1966.
