Stoneware vase designed by Jørgen Mogensen (b. 1927) for Royal Copenhagen. The vase is decorated with sung glaze depicting stylized fish on all four sides in relief. Factory first. Excellent condition. Painted mark: 21926 (3 waves)" Impressed JM monogram, printed "Royal Copenhagen (crown) Denmark. Height: 7 1/4 inches (18.5 cm) Weight: 2.3 kilos. Jørgen Mogensen (b. 1927) was educated at the school Arts & Crafts in Copenhagen . in 1949 he was employed at Royal Copenhagen, where he was permitted to work with own ideas & develop new ceramic techniques, This work resulted in the ceramic expression we associate with Mogensen stoneware characterized by robust forms & simplified abstract shapes.
