1940s carved wooden slides from the Philippines! So pretty & fascinating to look at - why aren't things like this made nowadays?! These are of a plainer variety than some of the "fancier" ones that were made (actually these might be for a child), but they've got beautiful details all the same. Brightly painted & primitive/folksy bas relief carvings of village scenes curve around the sides & back in candy-like colors. The uppers are soft purple velvet with appliqued & beaded flowers & leaves, fastened to the wooden sides with leather strips & tacks. There are scratches in the paint & lacquer as shown, but they're in good wearable condition - notably, the uppers don't seem to have sustained any disfiguring damage - no bead or applique loss. They'd make a beautiful display piece if you can't or don't wanna wear 'em!
