Description

Lovely old chandelier mounting plate rescued from a turn of the century brownstone house. This has a small label underneath saying "lightolie" which i think indicates this was made by Lightolier, an American lighting fixture manufacturer. Lightolier was founded in 1904 as the New York Gas & Appliance Company, & when electricity became more prevalent, they changed their name to "Lightolier", a contraction of "light" & "chandelier". The company continued production throughout the 20th century, & in 2007 it was absorbed into Phillips. This cover plate is made in a baroque or industrial or steampunk style, & it is in good original condition. The metal is cast & molded with good detail, & the underside is stamped "Lightolier" & "950". The solid hexagonal cast piece measures about 7 5/8" across from tip to tip, & 2 1/4" deep. The socket for the light bulb feels very securely fastened, & of course it's recommended to re-wire this before using with electricity. The whole piece weighs just over 2 pounds, so it's solid but not so heavy that you have to worry about how to mount it. in good condition. FREE shipping within the United States. I'll gladly combine shipping with other items whenever possible.
