Heljä Liukko-Sundström (simply HLS) is/was one of the best-known artists at Arabia, as she worked about five decades for Arabia Finland. HLS is a multi-talent person: except these fine naïve pictures she has authored books for children. For Iittala glass-works she has also designed paperweights. This picture, designed in 1995, is named Suomen Neito, it means The Maid of Finland in English. I have no idea about the origin of the name: we do not have flowers named like that. Shoe sole formed pictures were produced in three sizes: Small size 230 mm x 110 mm Middle size 315 mm x 135 mm Large size 395 mm x 180 mm To my knowledge each picture was produced only in one certain size.
