This is an authentic 1839 lithograph engrave by S. Augustus Mitchell from from Mitchell's "Schools & Family Geography" Atlas & is NOT a computer reproduction. See what the British Isles & Germany, Switzerland & Italy looked like over 170 years ago. Lots of charming, intricate details & contours, including mountains, islands, rivers & travel distances. Hand colored. Verso is blank. Perfect for the historian, map-lover, the curious or just as a conversation starter. Wonderful & rare. Vintage maps such as these make great gifts. Edition of 1852, printed 1852 Dimensions: 9 1/2" width x 11 1/2" height Condition: Good or "Very Vintage" condition, commensurate with age. This map is in good shape for being over 170 years old. Has lots of wear, foxing, toning, pencil in margins, pin holes where the map was removed from atlas & light staining, but this will all read as vintage character when framed.
