This is an estate piece from a friend's mother, who acquired it in the 1980s or 90s on a vacation. I had a really similar one myself that was African that I actually bought in Jamaica in 1983. It boasts a colorful geometric design that repeats on both sides with hand wrapped leather handles or straps. Versatile, you can use this as a purse, a market basket, storage for magazines or toys, or whatever other purpose you may think of. The bag is hand woven & very well made with beautiful natural & dyed fibers. From what I can find, this is likely Ghanian. I think they are called Bolga baskets these days, though when I bought mine they weren't labeled as such. This is a nice large size, about 16" wide & 11" tall not including the height of the handles. (LOCAL PICKUP IS PREFERRED! Are you in Atlanta?) The handles will be gently folded inward if this is shipped. in good to very good vintage preowned condition, it's all original & great to use & display! It's free of damage or fading & is decorative & functional. Note that it has a little wear around the area where the handle attaches to the body of the basket.
