BLUE BICOLOR SAPPHIRE - 10 x 8 mm Facetted Oval - Vintage Natural Thai Material - Made Between Thailand & Maine The rough crystal for this SAPPHIRE was mined in Thailand. It came out of the ground prior to 1980. Both Sapphire & Ruby are gem varieties of corundum & are classified as precious stones. Sapphire is hard & durable & is found in a wide range of colors. Sapphires in any color other than blue are referred to as "fancy" sapphires. This 9.7 x 7.8 x 5.5 Millimeter Facetted Oval Shaped SAPPHIRE weighs 3.42 carats. This gemstone displays two contrasting blue tones. It has a lovely, layered effect that lights up the stone as you move it around in the light. The bi-color effect diminishes as you put it closer to the skin. This BLUE SAPPHIRE is bright & will set-up really well. The stone has some normal internal inclusions when viewed under magnification. This shows natural origin. It's NOT created sapphire. WARNING: Some of the "natural" SAPPHIRE offered by foreign cutters isn't natural. It's manmade. Genuine SAPPHIRE over a carat in size, is seldom found in the marketplace & rarely flawless. This Gemstone has been SUPER POLISHED. We're using a 21st Century polishing technique to SUPERPOLISH Gemstones exceptionally brighter than what is normally seen by the public. Gemstones can look different under different types of light. The redder background images were taken with incandescent house light while the other images used a Daylight LED light source. Sunlight is the best light to view most gemstones. Unfortunately, we rarely have sunlight & blue skies in Maine, so outdoor photos are nearly impossible to take. Our prices are at wholesale. A Gift box is included with this purchase.
