This is a beautiful lusterware saucer & matching condiment ladle dating to the 1930s or 40s. What drew me to it was the amazing & unusual color of the lusterware which is a purple that changes depending on the light & reflection. So it looks very coppery when it's right under bright light, but it can also turn from purple to a reddish color to a blue color. It's really hard to describe. Besides the wonderful color, it has a beautiful white floral design with green branches & little white buds that are raised. This design repeats on the side of the ladle. More than likely part of a little mustard pot or honey pot set, the saucer or underplate is stamped with a red made in Japan stamp & a symbol that I've seen fairly often but I'm not sure what company it represents. I know that Noritake Nippon made a lot of pieces like this so it could be from one of those companies. in very good vintage or antique used preowned condition, these are free from any chips or damages or repairs. There are some signs of previous use like slight paint rubbings & missing paint here & there from gentle use, etc, but nothing that would detract from their loveliness. There are natural imperfections, & I am selling these two pieces as found. Unfortunately I do not have any other pieces from the set. From the internet: Lustreware or Lusterware is a type of pottery or porcelain with a metallic glaze that gives the effect of iridescence. It is produced by metallic oxides in an overglaze finish.
