Lucy Webb Hayes (#1420) - First Lady of the United States from 1877 to 1881 as wife of President Rutherford B. Hayes, the 19th President. Nicknamed affectionately as "Mother Lucy", she was well known for caring for wounded infantrymen in her husband's command during the Civil War. Fact of interest: in 1951 Madame Alexander became the first doll maker to be recognized by the prestigious New York Fashion Academy. & you can totally understand why when you see the detailed First Lady dolls! Series IV dolls were released in 1983. Elegant 14" vinyl dolls with rooted hair. Made from either the Mary Ann or Martha face molds. Each wears a dress depicting their beautiful Inaugural gown. Made in the USA. She comes from an avid Madame Alexander doll collector - Quality, fantastic, collectible condition with her Madame Alexander tag, original gown & jewelry, & original box.
