Helen Taft (#1428) - First Lady of the United States from 1901 to 1913 as the wife of William Taft, the 27th President. She was key in the planting of Washington's famous cherry trees & supported social causes such as women's suffrage & workplace safety. Fact of interest: in 1951 Madame Alexander became the first doll maker to be recognized by the prestigious New York Fashion Academy. & you can totally understand why when you see the detailed First Lady dolls! Series V dolls were released in 1985. Elegant 14" vinyl dolls with rooted hair. Made from either the Mary Ann or Martha face molds. Each wears a dress depicting their beautiful Inaugural gown.
