Vintage 1940s White Lab/Hospital Coat ~ made of heavy-weight cotton with a handsome striped herringbone weave ~ adds a lovely subtle texture. Features: ⭐ hand-knotted buttons ⭐ pass-through hand slits ⭐ two hand pockets ⭐ one chest pocket ⭐ back belt with knot button ⭐ vent on back hem ⭐ hanging strap on neck ⭐double-stitched seams ⭐ Hand-stitched monogram: "LJL" above the chest pocket, as well as an embroidered surname tag hand-stitched on the inside neck of the coat: "Liest". There are faint spots midway down near the button hole (see last photo). Provenance: The coat belonged to renowned doctor & researcher Leonard John Liest (Born 27 Apr, 1899, West De Pere, Wisconsin). He taught at Oregon State Hospital, while there he published a book & several scientific articles, then worked at Atascadero State Prison in California, finally settling in Santa Cruz, California. He died 11 Aug, 1983 & is buried at Oakwood memorial Park in Santa Cruz.
