We recently found this amazing piece of history at an east coast estate sale. This is a large metal Monteith, dating from the 1800's. A centerpiece for chilling wine glasses at the table. The vessel would have been filled with ice or cold water, the metal retains the cold temp. The ultimate host! A symbol of wealth & status at the time The vibrant red exterior & gold garland of grape vines truly make this an exquisite conversation piece. Beautifully preserved through time.
