A Beautiful Group of 5 different 1920-21 German Notgeld Emergency WW1 Collectible Vintage Bank Notes/Heller Currency. For size reference, the largest physical note in this lot is approx. 4.2 x 2.7 These notes are in great condition & neat collectibles. You will receive the items pictured. They are a really neat piece of post World War One history. The term Notgeld refers to money issued by an institution in a time of economic or political crisis. The issuing institution is usually one without official sanction from the central government. This occurs usually when sufficient state-produced money is not available from the central bank. Most notably, notgeld generally refers to money produced in Germany & Austria during World War I & the Interbellum. Issuing institutions could be a town's savings banks, municipality & private or state-owned firms. Nearly all issues contained an expiry date, after which time they were invalid. Issues without dates ordinarily had an expiry announced in a newspaper or at the place of issuance.
