IMAGE This is a composite of the patent documents from Frank Zamboni's 1944 invention of an ice rink surface that was kept frozen via circulation beneath the surface. The ice surface worked fantastically, but quickly resurfacing the ice after it had been used at length became an issue. This problem led to Zamboni's invention of an ice resurfacing machine a few years later - now commonly known as the "Zamboni!"
