Description
Presented is a fantastic antique Victorian 10 karat gold watch chain with slider, dating to around the 1860-1900. The slider is a really nice one, set with a finely hand carved hardstone cameo in black & white, depicting a classically Greco-Roman type figure of a woman. The slider also features intricately hand engraved texturing & a fine border of black enamel around the edge, a very stately look overall. The chain about 32 inches long, with a lobster claw type clasp at one end. Though this piece was made as a watch chain, it could be worn as a necklace today, with the clasp positioned at the back or hanging beneath the slider with a watch pendant attached, etc. This piece is in excellent condition. The chain has no kinks or damages. The slider moves well on the chain. The clasp is a little stiff but is secure. This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested both the chain & slider with nitric acid & guarantee both to be 10 karat gold. The total length is approximately 32 inches, so if you wear it doubled it will be about 16 inches. The slider is about 1 inch by ¾ of an inch.
