These Cedar Purple Martin Colony Apartments are my own custom design based off of a culmination of various experts' recommendations including: -3/4" thick Cedar -Crescent entrance holes (starling resistant) -3" wide x 1 3/16" tall -Entrance holes are 1/4" above the porch floor -Well ventilated -Drainage holes -Roof overhang -Rough flooring -without a rough floor, young will not have proper grip & may have permanently splayed legs -Porch -Each cavity size is 12"x7"x6" -Smaller cavities are not suitable for the large size of purple martins: see below -Cavities this size keep young more safe from predators -Hidden & hinged clean-out doors with lock Cedar provides better insulation against heat & cold over plastic. Cedar is one of the most insect & rot resistant woods. Starling resistant entrance holes are extremely important as starlings in particular are top predators for Purple Martins. Options include: -Levels -This listing includes an unfinished 2 tier apartment (4 rooms) -Pricing is being evaluated for houses with additional levels - need more levels, message me! -Finish Unfinished, sealer only, stain & sealer, paint only in your custom colors (white or light colored walls are recommended). They will have large compartment sizes (7"x12") as recommended by experts. The floors inside the compartments will be rough to provide grip for the young.
