Description

Our Pennsylvania Dutch-themed black cast iron towel holder or tool holder or anything else holder features a handsome, brightly colored Distelfink in the middle of an upside-down heart. A 5.25" in diameter ring is attached to the bottom of the heart. This image is based on the hex sign artform originated in Germany. Hex signs were carved into barns, furniture, door lintels, tombstones, etc. When the Germans moved to America, they brought the tradition with them. Farmers, being unskilled artists, climbed up ladders with a crude compass in hand to design a rosette & painted it in very simple colors of black, from lamps when they cleaned them & white, from whitewash. A Distelfink is a stylized goldfinch that represents happiness & good fortune. This wonderful piece of PA Dutch art measures approximately 10.25" long by approximately 5.25" wide & is in fine, vintage condition with very minimal loss of color. It has three small feet on the back in case you would prefer to sit it on a flat surface, as opposed to hanging it. It also has one hole at the top for easy hanging. Do you collect PA Dutch memorabilia? This piece is just fabulous! Pa Folk Art Hex Distelfink Towel Holder Tool Black Cast Iron 10.25" X 5.25"
