Antique Onyx orb w diamond star & locket back. This piece is a finely made, magical Georgian orb. A weighty, dramatic piece which has so many fabulous details... The onyx orb is inset with old mine cut genuine natural diamonds (very white & sparkly) set in 18K yellow gold. The largest center diamond is .35ct, color I, clarity SI1.The 6 accent diamonds surrounding it are .11 ct, color H/I/J, clarity SI1-12. The bail it's suspended from has it's own push mechanism to open it. On the very bottom of the orb is another tiny diamond; a delightful detail. The reverse has blond plaited hair under glass. I love orbs, & the advantage to one with a flat back like this is that it always hangs properly, with the star facing front, it doesn't flip over. It measures 1 inch in diameter, with an extra 1/4 inch for the bail, by 7/8ths of an inch deep. The weight is a hefty 22.9 gr. It's an exceptional & dramatic piece with a presence which makes it seem much larger than one inch. The piece is in very good condition,there are no white marks on the black agate-the black is highly polished, so any marks are reflections.
