For sale is an extremely rare Japanese steel steam dryer. This is a small, custom-made, steel paper dryer made in Japan in the early 1990's. Commissioned by one of Kyoto's main papermaking companies, the portable dryer was designed for use in demonstrations and, at 42lbs, is light enough to be loaded into the back of a car & driven from site to site. The dryer has been in storage for the last twenty years but is in fine shape. It is filled with water, sits on a sloped steel base designed to prevent overflow & is typically positioned over a gas burner to heat the water & create steam. This demonstration-size model measures 19" x 23" & the base measures 6" on the high side & slopes to 5" on the low side. Please look at the photos & email with any questions you might have.
