Description
Gorgeous vintage Mexico sterling silver souvenir spoon with beautifully detailed & intricate filigree handle. Highly collectible. 5.75" long. in very nice vintage condition. Wonderful gift to give to someone to add to their spoon collection who is a lover of filigree work. Filigree is called the lace of the jewelry world. As the etymology of the word suggests (filum =thread, granum=grain), filigree involves twisting & curling precious metal threads into elaborate designs. The Spanish carried filigree work to Mexico when they conquered Central America. This spoon handle is a wonderful example of the filigree technique using sterling wires. It was way too labor intensive a technique to do on non silver. Please refer to each photo. They are there to accurately & honestly represent the item's description & condition. Happy to answer any questions. I ship same day or next day & package with thought & care. & when you buy 2 or more items, they may be boxed together, where possible, to potentially save on shipping.
