From the web: 'Iolani Palace was the government headquarters for the Provisional Government (1893-1894), Republic of Hawaii (1894-1898), Territory of Hawaii (1898-1959), & the State of Hawaii. During World War II, it served as the temporary headquarters for the military governor of the islands. in the 1960s after years of neglect, the Palace had fallen into disrepair. in 1969, the State government moved to a newly constructed capitol building adjacent to the Palace grounds and, after 87 years of continuous use, 'Iolani Palace ceased to be the capitol of the Hawaiian Islands. The Friends of 'Iolani Palace oversaw an extensive restoration of the building in the 1970's, bringing the palace back to its 19th century splendor based on research conducted & funded by the Junior League of Honolulu. When the restoration was complete in 1978, 'Iolani Palace was opened to the public as a museum. No rights are granted or implied other than for personal collectible use. Makes a terrific gift for the historic Hawaii or Maui, Hawaii collector or an addition to your collection! pub places folder Matted Photograph | 8x10 - 1902 Former Palace Of Queen Liliuokalani, Honolulu, Hi.
