Materials: acrylic & 23 carat gold leaf on printed stretched canvas Dimensions: 12 x 8 x 0.75 inches - This partially hand-painted & gilded canvas icon print of St. Maximus the Confessor is currently in production, & will be ready to be shipped in 2-3 weeks. The photo in this listing is the original icon when it was first hand-painted & gilded from scratch on wood, which is now going to be produced on canvas. This original icon was made by Anna Poloz Icons, & it is inspired by the contemporary iconography movement in Lviv, Ukraine, which honors the Byzantine tradition of icon painting while also embracing new interpretations of the icon that focus on the pervasiveness of light & texture. These formal elements express the inner light that radiated from the lives of the saints, as we see with St. Maximus the Confessor here. To produce the canvas print, the original hand-painted icon was photographed & is being printed on stretched canvas. Acrylic paint & metal leaf will then be applied over certain sections of the print to give it a partially hand-painted quality.
