ABOUT: - One of a kind unique handbuilt ceramic serving plate featuring folk-style lion head - 15 cm / 6 inches across - Beautifully glazed with black, pink, blue & cream underglazes & food-safe transparent glaze - Features folk-style lion portrait carved in sgraffito technique - Fired in a kiln twice This listing is for a one of a kind ceramic serving plate with a composition of a folk-style lion portrait in black, pink, cream & blue underglazes, all done in the sgraffito technique. This original clay dish is handbuilt & decorated using various underglazes & food-safe transparent glaze. At first I built the plate using fine terracotta clay. Once the softness of the clay had reached 'leather-hard' stage, I applied underglazes & drew as well as carved out the design with folk-style lion. Next, the decorated plate went into the kiln to be bisque-fired at 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I added transparent glaze, & it went into the kiln again for the second firing. Please note that due to its handmade nature the plate might have some imperfections. This plate is entirely food safe. It can be put in a dishwasher, but I would recommend washing it by hand.
