Description

Put PENNSYLVANIA REDWARE in my shop's search box to see more of this wonderful folk art! Straight from an old friend's estate, I am thrilled to offer a fabulous collection of 1984-85 signed early American Pennsylvania redware that was made in the same technique as the antique redware was made 300 years earlier. Some of the collection includes a traditional slip-trailed loaf tray, a spongewear fluted-footed vase, slipware bowl, slip & sponge decorated plates, a fabulous bird (turkey?) bank, manganese glazed pitcher & porringers (chowder or soup) mugs, slip glazed honey or mustard pot & creamer, & assorted plates. They are offered individually. This listing is for the manganese glazed pair of porringers by the Long Family Potters. They are each about 5" by 2" & they pair was the 13th item in the collection. It has a fabulous dark silver-nearly black metallic finish. These will be great filled with a delicious serving of chili or chowder. These are stunning & look great with modern & antique decor. Each piece includes the certificate of authenticity; they all appear to have been displayed & not used, or possibly used very gently & rarely. My friend even had the October 1984 Early American Life magazine (the magazine is NOT included) with the advertisement that she had cut out to order these back then. It was a subscription where you'd receive a new piece to examine & either keep or send back. According to the ad, the collection included 15 handmade, hand decorated & hand glazed museum, quality reproductions of rare antique redware, all created by master potters using a 300 year old technique, signed & dated & accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Since all the redware is handmade, they may have small defects that are original & expected. Please take the time to view all the photos carefully & zoom in to see details. Pictures are an important part of the description, & it's assumed you have viewed them all before purchasing. Kindly remember that unlike brand new items, my items have been previously owned & will sometimes show signs of use consistent with age of antique & vintage items. Unless otherwise mentioned, the things in my shop are sold as found. I'm always available if you have questions about anything in my shop, so please don't hesitate to reach out with inquiries or concerns. Shipping is generally nonrefundable & has been calculated to include insurance. Free local pickup is an option for Atlanta GA folks. It's especially encouraged for heavy and/or large items. 1980S Pennsylvania Redware Manganese Glazed Porringers Early American Bread Tray Museum Ed. Long Family Potters Folk Art Cottagecore Sale
