Here is a stunning pair of antique face screens, probably from the mid to later 1800s Victorian period. This beautiful pair of face screens are made from black velvet which has been lovingly hand embroidered in a different floral design to each. in mainly greens, golden beige, blues & red with little gold beadwork detail, this has been stretched over a wire frame with a black crochet lace edging all the way around. Each is back in bright red silk, both has matching turned wooden handles which has been painted in cream & gold as seen in the eighth photo. They are in very good condition for there age with some rubbing & wear to the handles, minor marks to the back red silk, a little slightly darker patch around the backs of the handles (seen in the last photo) where I am guessing they have been stabilised more recently. Both very strong & would look amazing on display, a great find for a historical textiles collector.
