Description

RARE Astrid Fog (1911-1993) for George Jensen bangle. Fog designed for Jensen beginning in 1969 producing minimalist pieces that - although not always commercial successes - were revered as objects of art. Her pieces are part of major museum collections, including the British Museum. This bangle is star-shaped with five shapely "arms" separated by small bar-fitted gaps. Miraculous. From The Bard Graduate Center's exhibit in 2005: "The years after World War II witnessed a new triumph for the Jensen firm. Designers such as Henning Koppel, Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe, Nanna Ditzel, Astrid Fog, Bent Gabrielsen, & Arno Malinowski brought the company back to the forefront of the international design scene. They pushed the firm in new directions & created the Jensen company's own interpretation of Scandinavian Modern. These successors to the Jensen mantle, while creating distinct, individual styles, maintained the founder's spirit & love of the material, evident in his often-quoted meditation: "Silver captures the moonlight's glimmerlike the light of a Danish summer night. It can darken, & it can, when it dews, become like a will o' the wisp." Measurements: 2.5" interior diameter, 71.1 grams Era: 1970s Markings: Georg Jensen / 925 S / DENMARK / 232 Vintage 1970S Rare Astrid Fog For George Jensen Design 232
